❔ Home is always proud to create an environment where every member feels valued and belongs. In 8 Leadership Qualities - DNA, there is the quality of 'People Centricity,' which underscores the significance of nurturing talent at Home. What are your thoughts on the importance of Home Credit DNA, and particularly the value of People Centricity?
⭐ Trung Duong: Home Credit DNA serves as a guiding compass for personal development, encouraging individuals to make meaningful contributions within Home Credit and their broader community. This is particularly exemplified in the trait of People Centricity, which places a strong emphasis on prioritizing people in our workplace and social interactions. By championing the principles of People Centricity, we cultivate a civilized, cohesive, and sustainable environment
⭐ Thao Le: When individuals enter a workplace, they seek an environment conducive to discovering and enhancing their abilities through the work they undertake. The 8 leadership qualities serve as a standard for individuals to self-assess and recognize their strengths and weaknesses for improvement. Among these qualities, the central focus is 'People Centricity,' as the other qualities are inherently oriented toward individuals, aiming to deliver the best products and services to users while also fostering the personal growth of each member within Home.
⭐ Anh Hoang: Embracing the ethos of 'People Centricity', which resonates with over 6000 employees of Home, every action and decision we take should be aimed at delivering greater value and benefits to everyone – from customers to our colleagues. Every comment and suggestion should be rooted in the perspective of contributing to the growth of our peers and partners, enabling them to leverage their strengths and address their weaknesses, thereby evolving through each project. Each product and service we create should be geared towards providing the best experience for our customers, fostering Home's core mission of assisting customers to empower people to live the life they want, now.
❔ How can we effectively absorb the opinions of colleagues, from a diverse perspective and respecting differences, and what is the best way to contribute ideas and comments in the spirit of integration and development?
⭐ Anh Hoang: The foremost principle is active listening, refraining from immediate responses to opposing viewpoints and opinions. Instead, it is crucial to first absorb and understand. Subsequently, analyze the merits and shortcomings of your colleagues' ideas and provide constructive input in a suitable manner. It's important to remember that any debate should focus solely on the matter at hand, with the aim of fostering mutual development. After the discussion, seek common ground to align intentions, striving to create substantial value for employees, customers, and the community, in line with People Centricity. Occasionally, there may be contributions that pose challenges and complexities for the team's work. However, if these ideas lead to improved team outcomes, come together to address and overcome the challenges collaboratively. By doing so, you ensure that your team attains results that surpass expectations.
⭐ Trung Duong: To effectively absorb people's opinions, it is crucial for colleagues to begin by actively listening to the entire narrative and the colleague's perspective. It's imperative to understand why your colleague maintains their perspective, even if it diverges from your own. This practice entails embracing your colleague's standpoint, which not only deepens your comprehension but also facilitates a more comprehensive assessment and adjustment of your own viewpoint. For instance, during a group meeting, it is advisable not to interrupt a member while they are sharing their opinion. This practice fosters an environment where everyone can voice their views and ideas, rather than solely focusing on their own opinions. Additionally, when providing feedback about an individual, it's recommended first to assess that person's shortcomings and offer suggestions to help improve those deficiencies. Afterward, comment on their strengths to provide more motivation for that individual's development.
⭐ Thao Le: Try to put yourself into your colleague's shoes and prioritize active listening over immediate opposition to differing perspectives. Additionally, when collaborating with a partner on the same project or specific tasks, explore common ground through shared personal interests, career goals, daily experiences, and more. Then, you can use these shared points as a foundation to extend discussions to address the main topic. Furthermore, the comments should be considered from the point of view of improving the output quality of the project and aiming for the common benefit for everyone. In cases where there are still issues that both sides cannot agree on, you can also consult and decide from a higher level.
❔ In pursuing talent development, Home Credit consistently emphasizes establishing and administering comprehensive training and development initiatives, fostering a culture of lifelong learning such as the Business School, Udemy Challenge, and HomeChat. What is the influence of nurturing professional knowledge and self-directed learning on the personal growth and job performance of employees within the organization? Could you also share your efforts and strategies in promoting this culture of learning and development?
⭐ Trung Duong: In any field, self-study of expertise and soft skills is essential. An individual with a spirit of learning, always inquiring, researching, and constantly creating, will enhance their self-worth and work performance. At Home Credit, the spirit of learning is pervasive, not only through courses on Udemy and sharing sessions like Business School but also through meetings with colleagues. I am still on the path of learning, continually encouraging people to self-study and learn from those around them.
⭐ Anh Hoang: Every individual should enhance their capacity in their respective professional fields through the company's training programs and by learning from the experience and knowledge of their superiors. Leading experts from various industries, including technology, marketing, finance, and more, are gathering at Home. This presents a remarkable opportunity for everyone to learn from the best in their respective fields. Furthermore, it is essential to learn from colleagues. At Home, we have a Business School where people can learn from each other and gain insights into various fields beyond their own professions. She consistently serves as a role model, encouraging her team to participate in courses to cultivate and develop themselves, upgrade their expertise, and expand their industry knowledge. This initiative fosters a culture of collective learning and team growth
⭐ Thao Le: Cultivating professional knowledge helps each individual optimize work productivity, enhance work quality, and contribute to increasing the overall efficiency of the team. Additionally, when you streamline your work processes and reduce your working time, you create opportunities to broaden your expertise in other fields or take on more challenging roles. One of the programs I would like to recommend to everyone is the "Business School", where participants have the chance to meet leading experts from various fields such as business, technology, finance, marketing, and human resources. This provides individuals with an opportunity to learn and explore careers beyond their expertise, thus enriching and expanding their knowledge base. Who knows, you might discover a new passion in a different profession.
❔ Home Credit's Purpose is: "We empower people to live the life they want, now", helping customers be proactive in choosing products and managing their finances, and encouraging employees to experience many jobs, positions and take ownership of decisions. What do you think about empowerment culture and why is it important for nurturing and developing talent?
⭐ Trung Duong: Empowerment culture is an effective and beneficial management approach encouraging individuals to actively engage in their work. However, in addition to rights and responsibilities, empowered individuals must also bear the responsibility for their decisions. Furthermore, an empowerment culture fosters creativity and innovation, leading to increased work efficiency. To successfully establish an empowerment culture, it necessitates comprehensive assessment from those empowering individuals, as well as a committed attitude from those being empowered. It is essential for nurturing and developing talent because it creates a conducive environment for individuals to reach their full potential, fostering creativity and a strong work ethic.
⭐ Anh Hoang: For the empowerment culture to be optimal, there needs to be consensus and mutual trust from both sides: the Giver must have confidence that the Recipient can effectively perform the assigned task. Being empowered requires belief in one's own abilities, particularly the desire to excel in and conquer the assigned task. A prominent example is the period during the COVID-19 pandemic in Ho Chi Minh City, where Home Credit's leadership entrusted employees to collaboratively source vaccines and identify the best vaccination options. Through mutual trust, empowerment, and solidarity, we have achieved the desired results for all employees, equipping everyone with a 'Vaccine Shield' against the pandemic. Regarding the culture of empowering customers, Home is one of the pioneering companies in implementing this strategy. We offer a wide range of product packages with appropriate interest rates for each customer, ensuring that customers receive financial support to afford the products and services they desire. Additionally, Home provides a variety of financial products, enabling customers to easily register for Home's solution packages directly online through Home's digital solutions. Through these comprehensive digital financial solution packages, Home aims to the purpose of "We empower people to live the life they want, now"
❔ Can you tell the audience more about the risks of empowerment and how to both empower and minimize the risks encountered? With your own experience and knowledge, when you see the mistakes of the staff in the process of implementing a project that is a bit overwhelming, will you ask them to stop the project and transfer it to someone else or keep them doing it and learn from their own failures?
⭐ Anh Hoang: In my opinion, when empowering someone, it is crucial to consider the recipient's feasibility and implementation capacity. Furthermore, it is essential to evaluate whether the recipient will learn and improve themselves through the project, rather than assigning work simply due to a lack of personnel at the time. Throughout the project implementation process, if I notice employees' mistakes and shortcomings, I will consistently pose leading questions to help them recognize their mistakes and correct them promptly, rather than waiting until errors occur before addressing them. To me, the Journey is often more important than the Destination. The Giver should always be there to accompany the Recipient through the working journey, offering support and mutual growth, leading to the best results achieved together.
